MY story and mission

There are so many reasons why I am a mental health counselor.

I wanted to be a mental health counselor for a very long time. From a young age, I knew I loved helping people. When I researched career paths for myself, it was personally important that I have a job that aligned with my values and that had a greater purpose beyond just myself. Being a mental health counselor is a way for me to leave behind at least some glimmer of positivity in a world that can feel hopeless and heavy for so many.

I want to give others a space where they can freely express themselves and have a voice.

I have been fortunate enough to witness the tremendous healing and liberation that can happen for people when they feel safe to share parts of themselves that they otherwise might keep hidden and suffer silently with.

I want to reduce the stigma around mental health. Especially around topics like depression, self-harm and trauma.

Part of reducing the stigma around mental health is acknowledging that these struggles exist and are real for so many people. In fact, I have also examined a lot of my own messy feelings and mental health struggles- I am human too! I truly use the skills that I teach my clients, so I know it works and it isn’t a load of B.S. I offer out-of-the-box solutions because I know using one mindfulness meditation isn’t going to cut it for addressing all of the difficulties life and mental illness can throw at people. Also, I keep in mind that each person might need something different! I pride myself on my ability to be dynamic and flexible to meet my clients where they are.

You are the expert of your life and I am the expert on mental health.

I believe that therapy is a collaborative process. Meaning, while I studied mental health through academics and experience, you know your life best because you are the one living it. I can add a fresh perspective to your struggles while teaching you what information you might be missing. My goal is to empower you and creatively guide you to implement what we uncover during sessions in a way that works best for you.
